Learning the Fun Way at GVT's Summer Drama Camp

Students who participated in GVT's summer drama camp experienced intensive study in theatre arts. Campers ages 5-14 spent two weeks exploring creative dramatics, acting for the camera, scene study, voice and movements, creative writing, storytelling, and technical theatre.

Along with these exciting classes, Education Director/Associate Artistic Director Courtney Susman and her dedicated group of Teaching Artists and Assistants introduced new learning opportunities to the campers. A costuming class was introduced, giving students the chance to create their own designs. Younger campers learned the joys of miming in clowning class, and Haley Brown, from WVVA, was a guest teacher who taught camera work to the older campers.

Camp then culminated in performances written, developed, and produced by the students. Theatre arts and crafts, along with lots of improvisation and a focus on communication gave each camper a well-rounded peek into all aspects of theatre.
