THE SCHOOL FOR LIES CONTINUES AFTER FABULOUS OPENING WEEKEND
Greenbrier Valley Theatre fans have probably heard the buzz around our production of The School for Lies, which opened last Friday night to a full house.
The adapted 17th Century comedy of manners mixes romance with rumors and poetry with a well-struck prose. All this hilarity takes place on a delightfully rendered set designed by our own Production Manager and Scenic Designer, Richard Crowell, along with amazing lighting designed by E. Tonry Lathroum (United Scenic Artists Local 829).
The set creates a perfect backdrop to Jenna Fawn Brown, GVT’s resident Costume Designer’s, opulent conceptions, and are partnered with the imaginative wig designs by our visiting Wig Master, Marcia Blum. Jenna Fawn Brown’s magnificent designs are complimented by the colorful poetry and humor of The School for Lies. The actors are in their element, trading barbs completely in rhyme, encapsulating the audience.
This saucy comedy continues throughout this month on the GVT mainstage. The School for Lies returns tonight, Wednesday, July 18, and continues July 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, and 28 at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a matinee on July 28 at 2:30 p.m. (Please note there will be no show this Saturday, July 21, as GVT is hosting its Masquerade in the Mountains fundraiser at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine Conference Center.)
