education
In a tent along the banks of the Greenbrier River, the Greenbrier Valley Theatre created its first productions in 1966. In 1976, in a new location known as The Barn, we introduced children’s theatre classes for the first time.
Since 1976, education has been at the core of the Greenbrier Valley Theatre mission. We want to provide ongoing, inclusive, quality education in theatre and performing arts. Our educational programs engage students in activities and exercises that challenge their abilities and promote intellectual, creative, and personal growth.
We aim to enable youth to develop important skills that positively influence their everyday lives and help prepare them to contribute meaningfully to their local communities. Our programs provide an outlet for students to exercise and improve those skills, including empathy, public speaking, understanding and implementing communication theory and principles, critical thinking, effective problem solving, collaboration, and imagination.
